Hail the New Moon! It occurs at 4:32 pm EDT on the 8th, the day of the Papal Funeral. Not bad timing. I drew up the charts of John Paul II's birth, death and pontification. Potent fellow of course. He is in the process of being canonized and the astrology does indeed line up with that. His natal Mars retrograde in Libra is at the current Moon's South Node. The New Moon of his funeral falls along that line; there was a Full Moon along the same line, 180 degrees opposite in Libra/Aries, the day he was elected Pope. Popeular guy for sure. In this last year, he had his Uranus return which occurs when you are 84 and circumscribes the archetypal human life, 12 x 7 years, etc. Without a doubt JPII lived it to the hilt. He was very Taurean with his Venus, which rules Taurus, in Taurus at its power point. By all accounts, he spoke to people intimately, touched them, held values consistently, persistently, heroically and beautifully. I happen not to agree with a good portion of those values, most notably the suppression of the Feminine. Though he carried the Feminine, he also carried the oppression of it in doctrine by opposing women in the priesthood, priests marriage to women and reproductive rights for women. It's a man's, man's, man's, Son of God world and apparently the ladies must be kept as sacred cows all the better to be bullied. Curiously in his last years, the Da Vinci Code thing arose.
