The Consuming Mind
Ready. Set. Gobble. Happy holiday onslaught to you. I wish you
peace filled days. Ye olde planets are shuffling around. The four
points of the Grand Pentagon have moved on. Three points still
hover about. The initiation of these last six weeks will play out
over the rest of your lifetime. It has been that significant. It
is not something to figure out and dwell upon. Play baby play.
Venus enters Scorpio on the 22nd at 5:31 am PST wherein she joins
Mars. She'll catch the rascal in early December in Scorpio. Get
it on. Get down on it. Get sassy and frassy and Haille Selaisse.
Listen to some reggae, some James Brown, some funkadelic. Know
what I'm sayin'...... It's a groove thang. As they say in the war
zone at explosive moments: "Fire in the hole!" I'd say there's a
fire in the whole. The heat is on. You want passion, you got
passion. Tempers and temperatures are up, up, up. Crazier and
crazier crap flies flagrantly. Whether it's self immolation in
front of the White House or some UN official named Ruud Lubber
accused of being a rude lover to his female co-workers, hot stuff
is happening.
All this faith based goop is flaming. Maybe the left wing has
lost faith and certainly the right wing is righteous in its
faith. Give up a life of faith. Faith is one of the most
unconscious processes in the Dream. Just be present and make
choices. Wherever you've got faith you've got encrusted, gnarly,
unconscious crud that is super reactionary. Look out now! The
shit is really going to fly; so is the fur. Things are going to
swing a fur might. Twang clang doodle. The mojo is working for
the fundamentalists all over the world. In these limbo times we
will witness how low can you go. Any and every effort to ascend
will drive deep descension and dissension. Fight and flight
flagellate around the frothy fear. Terrorism has been well
installed in the psyche and now it begins to bloom. Yo-yoing is
ensuing. You see because you saw. You titter then you tatter. You
go to and come fro. It ain't you. It ain't never you. It is the
mind and you are becoming more aware of it. Claim your
consciousness and clear your karma directly. If that makes sense.
See me for a session. I can remember to you how to you can cut
through your own crap and realize your own delightful being.
Sun goes into Sagittarius on the 21st at 3:22 pm PST. This
expansive sign is the key component of the holiday season.
Cornucopial delight is one aspect of this abundant sign. So is
consumption. Everyone is a consumer. Creation consumes itself.
You could even define life as being a consumption system. As the
holiday season approaches, consuming is on most people's minds.
But let's look at how the mind consumes and never takes a
holiday......
Whether it's Ramadan or Thanksgiving or Christmas, the focus of
these holiday activities often comes to consumption. To eat or
not to eat, that is the question. Then comes whether to eat or
not at what time of the day or when or how or how much of what
kind we should eat and what do we eat every year and are we
eating that again and on and on. After a while it all starts
eating you.
Thought is the food for thought and then it invades all other
areas of life. If something is eating you, it usually hits you in
the belly or the guts. Some folks can't eat at all when they're
disturbed; some folks eat all the time when they're upset. It
does seem as though the holiday season has now become a giant
disturbance, a gut wenching state of denial, a glorified
tribulation with all the trimmings.
Nature takes respite in the winter of the year; many modern
humans no longer do. The hyperactivity of holiday consumption is
polarized to the natural cycles of rest and renewal. Instead of
rest, everybody tries to get all the rest of IT, whatever IT is,
and it turns out that that is more than the body or body politic
or the planet itself can bear. I see more re-oldal than renewal
in western cultures, especially in America. Old behaviors drive
more old behaviors, dressed up in shabbier shine. The more it
gets different, the more tradition must be defended. The longer
the tradition molders, the more the pressure to differentiate.
Change is now co-opted by corporate agenda to feed the consumer
their change object that will supposedly take away the anxiety of
the non satisfaction of life in the fast lane. Even Ramadan,
which is life in another kind of fast lane, begets intense
consumption once darkness arrives. What a bother!
The mind endlessly splits everything. You are enjoying your self
with a bit of something and then in comes the mind leading you to
think if it is good or bad or this or that. Divided, you are
conquered, by the ridiculous and oh so common distraction that
makes up the noise of the Dream. The search for better leaves you
feeling worse which drives the effort to get better. Trying to
get your dreams to come true creates the Dream as if it is true
and suffering derives.
This holiday season, this life, how about having the life that
you want instead of having a better life. Instead of having your
dreams come true, how about being true to yourself and choosing
what you want. If you look deeply, you can see that making your
dreams come true tends to make others¹ lives truly become
nightmares. The first world is very ignorant of its effects on
the third world. It is unpopular to look. The same goes for all
those species and ecosystems that fall victim to our insatiable
consumption. Let the gift be you and those you love. Instead of
consuming your way through the anxiety, take pause. Consider playing with the world
in such a way that is reparative to you and others. An economy of
support and exchange can develop beyond the consumption that the
mind offers. Greed and need go hand in hand. Being present begets
presents to one self and to others that fosters everyone's
presence. Give yourself and others the gift of health and well
being.
Rest in peace........... vitally,
Mark
