In the 5 October issue of The Guardian there ran an article entitled: "Nobels Oblige" about Harvardıs annual Ig Nobel prizes. This year they offered special homage to the inventor of karaoke, the Vatican for outsourcing their prayer line to India and a study on herrings that communicate by farting. Also recognized was a Harvard research project demonstrating what is called inattentional blindness. The study showed a film of a basketball game and asked the audience to count how many times the team in white passed the ball. Halfway through the game, a man in the film in a gorilla suit came into the picture and looked right at the camera. Fifty percent of the audience didnıt notice the gorilla at all. Ninety percent believed they would see it, but only half did. It was published as Gorillas in Our Midst.
